If you’ve ever wanted to dig deeper into Scripture but felt overwhelmed about where to start, you’re not alone. Over the years, I’ve found a handful of resources that have truly helped me understand and love the Word more and I shared all of them in a recent video on Instagram. You can watch it here where I talk through each one in a bit more detail.

Whether you’re brand new to Bible study or you’ve been in the Word for years, these tools can help make your time in Scripture richer and more meaningful.

1. The Infographic Bible

This is such a fun and beautiful visual resource. You’ll still need your own Bible alongside it, but the Infographic Bible brings the big picture of Scripture to life through charts, timelines, and illustrations. It’s a wonderful companion to see how all the pieces of God’s story fit together.

2. Lifeway Christian Bible Studies

Lifeway offers some truly solid Bible studies complete with videos and workbooks that walk you through Scripture in a structured, thoughtful way. These are great for group studies, but they also work perfectly for quiet mornings at home during nap time or in the evenings after the kids are in bed.

3. Is the Bible True…Really? by Josh McDowell and Dave Sterrett

This is a short but powerful read that tackles some of the most common questions people have about the truth and reliability of Scripture. If you’ve ever wanted to feel more confident about why you believe what you believe, this one’s a great place to start.

4. The ESV Study Bible

If I could recommend one all around resource for understanding Scripture better, it would be this. The ESV Study Bible is packed with notes, maps, cross references, and historical context. It’s perfect for helping you understand not just what a passage says, but what it means.

5. Illuminated Scripture Journals

These are some of my favorite tools for personal reflection and journaling through Scripture. Each book of the Bible has its own journal, with the text printed on one side of the page and space to write on the other. They’re beautiful, simple, and perfect for slowing down and really meditating on God’s Word.

6. A Good Commentary

If you’re ready to go a little deeper, a commentary is a great investment. I personally use The New Bible Commentary printed by IVP. It gives solid theological background and explanations for each passage helpful for understanding context and meaning beyond surface level reading.

7. The Bible App

It might sound simple, but the Bible App (YouVersion) is an incredible free resource. It offers hundreds of reading plans, audio versions, and even community features where you can read with friends. It’s great for staying consistent and finding fresh ways to engage with Scripture.

8. Desiring God Ministries

If you’re looking for biblically grounded teaching and encouragement, Desiring God has so much to offer. I especially love the “Ask Pastor John” podcast and the Look at the Book video series, where John Piper walks through Scripture verse by verse. You can find both at desiringgod.org.

Each of these tools has helped me draw closer to God and understand His Word more deeply, and I hope they bless and serve you, too.

You can find links to all of these resources in my Amazon cart it’s an easy way to grab what you need and start building your own study toolkit. And don’t forget to watch the video where I share more about how I use each one in my own time with the Lord.

We don’t have to be scholars to study the Bible well. With the right tools and a heart that’s willing, we can grow in our understanding day by day.
